Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ShopSell (the "Platform," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when merchants ("sellers") use our commerce and shipping platform, and when their customers ("buyers") shop the storefronts we host. By using ShopSell you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
ShopSell is a multi-tenant commerce and shipping platform. Sellers create hosted storefronts, connect their own payment and carrier accounts, and sync orders from external sales channels. ShopSell operates the software; each seller remains the merchant of record for their own store and is the controller of their customers' data.
2. Information we collect
- Account information — name, email, and login credentials for sellers who register. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
- Order and customer information — when orders are placed on a storefront or imported from a connected sales channel (such as Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, or TikTok Shop), we process the buyer's name, shipping address, contact details, and order contents so the seller can fulfill and ship the order.
- Payment information — buyer checkout payments are processed by the seller's own Stripe account. Card details are handled directly by Stripe; ShopSell does not store full card numbers.
- Connected-account credentials — API keys and OAuth tokens for the carrier accounts (UPS, FedEx, USPS), Stripe, and sales channels that sellers connect. These secrets are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM).
- Usage and technical data — basic log and request data needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
3. How we use information
- To operate storefronts, process checkout, and import and fulfill orders.
- To generate shipping rates, purchase labels, and provide tracking through connected carriers.
- To push fulfillment and tracking back to the originating sales channel.
- To authenticate users, secure accounts, and prevent abuse.
- To send transactional email (e.g. order and account notifications).
4. Third-party services we share data with
We share the minimum data necessary with the service providers a seller chooses to connect:
- Stripe — payment processing for buyer checkout and for seller subscriptions.
- Shipping carriers — UPS, FedEx, and USPS for rating, labels, and tracking.
- Sales channels — Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and TikTok Shop for order import and fulfillment sync.
- Email delivery — a transactional email provider for notifications.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Marketplace account deletion & data retention
We retain order and account records for as long as needed to provide the service, meet the seller's fulfillment and recordkeeping needs, and comply with legal obligations. Where a connected sales channel provides account-deletion or closure notifications (for example, eBay's Marketplace Account Deletion program), we honor them and remove the associated buyer records we hold.
Requesting deletion. Buyers and sellers may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information by contacting us at the address below. For storefront buyers, deletion requests may also be directed to the seller who operates the store.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and encryption at rest for connected-account secrets. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.
7. Children's privacy
ShopSell is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
